1 Day Arrival in the Kathmandu valley.Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our team will greet you and provide private transportation to your hotel in the city. You’ll receive a comprehensive briefing about the Nar and Phu valley trek plan from our knowledgeable representative, ensuring you’re fully prepared for the adventure ahead.
Early morning drive to Gongabu Bus station to get a coach for Besi Sahar Bazaar through Prithvi Highway with Micro Bus. From Besisahar onwards, you take a local jeep (reserve the private jeep extra cost on US$ 115 per group of 6-7 people) to Koto village.
Drive across the scenic valley, gorges, River, greenery local villages, and gorgeous mountain scenery. If you are overland driving with reserving a private jeep to Koto, just stop for a couple of minutes for a photo shot of Syange waterfall and sightseeing around.
We continue our drive through the Marshyangdi river valley mostly off road and continue across barley, rice, potato fields, and pine and fir forests to Koto guest houses. Koto is a gateway to exploring Nar Phu valley trekking in the Annapurna section where we can stay overnight.
As you start your journey from Koto, the day trip is a challenging, narrow trail that winds through dense forests, gradually ascending through steep terrain. As the journey progresses, they cross rivers and journey through enchanting pine forests, passing by a breathtaking waterfall, culminating in the arrival at Meta village.
The Phu village trek route goes ahead with a good view of the magnificent Nar Phedi monastery. Hike about 90 minutes through scenic canyons and gorges, you’ll reach a monolith that guards the steep trail to Phu. Reaching there, you can get the first view of the three villages in the area as well as the old “dzong” (Tibetan-style fortress).
It remains of two ruined forts, impressively situated atop the flatlands before the village. You can make a short walk up to the famous Tashi Lhakhang Gompa to pay respects to Lama Karma Sonam Rimpoche who came to Nepal with the Dalai Lama in 1959.
An acclimatization day in Phu village is recommended to avoid high altitude sickness. Interested hikers can hike to Himlung base camp through a glacial valley and explore the village. Himlung mountain at 7,125m is a famous expedition in the Himalayas so often Nar Phu trekkers visit its base camp. In addition, Phu village itself is a fascinating village, and a day is well spent sitting with the villagers as they spin their yak and sheep wool, pound mustard seeds into a paste for oil, or go about their other daily chores. Lucky Tourists see herds of blue sheep skillfully clambering up the steep cliffs.
Descend towards Meta direction but turn off at the Nar Phedi monastery. We stay overnight at Nar village in a monastery because the rooms are clean and the nuns are friendly and welcoming. At Nar village trekking, Trekker’s can perceive barren landscapes with holy Buddhist lama and gompas. About 5 pm, every day, Lama Monks are performing a puja (a blessing ceremony), which you are welcome to witness.
We walk along the windy path to Nar village. Cross a line of wonderfully painted, bamboo-topped chortens on the way into the ancient village. En route, tourist can see the village ‘square’ teeming with chatting women with their back-strap looms weaving wool fabric for rugs and blankets.
We start kangla pass early in the morning to avoid windstorms and catch a glimpse of pristine landscapes. Cross Kang la hill station is the most impressive highlight of the entire Nar Phu journey. Kang La top is just incredible in terms of View that provides a stunning view of Pisang peak, Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Tilicho peak, and the scenic view of Hongdae airport. Crossing Kang La pass, we walk downhill to Nagwal village, a gateway to exploring the Annapurna circuit. Moreover, this Ngawal village is a trek route to Braga with a Buddhist class to teach monks, prayer wheels, and attractive architecture.
For the first part, we walk all the way downhill to reach upper Pisang, cross the Marshyangdi river, and can reach lower Pisang lodges. Backpackers can visit a monastery in Upper Pisang if they wish to capture the amazing shoots. Travel through the flat valley along the bank of the Marshyandi River passing pine trees, a farming terrace, and a beautiful village, we reach to Dhukur Pokhari lodges. On your day tour, you will have an outstanding view of the towering Mountains, pristine valleys, and the local inhabitants.
Today, we drive all the way downhill to Besisahar. It’s about 4 hours of crazy drive to pass about 78 kilometers distance. During the drive, Tourists can see the majestic landscapes, water falls and tiny villages. The trail from Besisahar to Manang or Manang to Besisahar is bumpy so it takes even more hours.
After breakfast, take a microbus back to Kathmandu city. Drop you at Kathmandu International Airport onward to your final destination and our Nar Phu trek ends. Wish you a wonderful journey.

Answer: Yes, you can leave your luggage at your hotel or at our office. Storing your clothing stuffs in the Gokyo Treks agency office is for safe.

Answer: Absolutely yes. Nepal is a safe country to travel especially for women travelers. Our guide and porters are friendly and respects tourist. We have been organizing the trek even for female travelers since its establishment.
Question: What kind of accommodation and foods can I expect on Nar Phu Lodge treks?.
Answer: We provide tourist standard guest house accommodation during this Nar and Phu trekking routes. Rooms are basic & simply clean with a comfortable bed and blankets. However, we advise you to travel with a fresh 4-season sleeping bag because the blankets in the mountains often not very clean and stings. If you have one with you otherwise, you may rent sleeping bags while you are shopping in a gear shop in thamel Kathmandu.
Similarly, every lodges, they have attached restaurants where they cook a delicious range of mostly vegetarian meals. Such as Pasta, tuna bakes, noodles, potatoes, Rice and lentils, eggs, bread, soups, and fresh vegetables. Dinner and breakfast are provided in the same lodge you spend the night and Lunch provides on the way to the next place where you hikes.
Question: Will I have a hot shower along the express Nar Phu wilderness route?.
Answer: Along this Nar Phu lodge trekking route, hot showers are available at some lodges, especially in the lower elevations. However, as you ascend to higher altitudes, amenities become more basic and may be limited or unavailable. Therefore, we advise you to prepare for fewer comforts as you get closer to this remote wilderness area.
Question: How do I manage to drink water on my trip to Nar Phu valley route?.
Answer: All most every stations there are lodges and shops where you can buy a bottle of mineral water to drink. But we advise against buying mineral water in plastic bottles, as currently there are no provisions for disposing of these. Instead, you can buy boiled water or bring aqua tablets to purify the normal water as the normal water is available at the campsite along the journey.
Question: Can I charge my mobile phone or digital camera on my trip?.
Answer: In some places, you can get charging stations to recharge your phone or camera. But, we recommend you to bring an extra pair in case or trvel with a portable power bank. Remember to bring adapters!
Question: What permits do we require for my Nar Phu valley Trek?
Answer: For the Nar Phu Valley Trek, you need the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and a Restricted Area Permit (RAP). Likewise, You also need a TIMS permit (Trekker’s information Management System) which will cost US$ 18 Per Person. On the top of those 2 permits, you also need a Restricted Area Permit (RAP). This costs US$ 75 per person per week between December to August and US$ 100 per person per week between September and November.
Question: Are there any communication facilities on the Nar Phu lodge trek?.
Answer: Yes, communication facilities are available at some lodges along this trip. Many lodges offer Wi-Fi and mobile network connectivity, though the quality and reliability can vary, especially at higher altitudes and remote areas. It’s advisable to buy a local SIM card [NTC OR NCELL] with data pack for easier and cheper connections.
Question: When should I book my trip and what are the payment terms?.
Answer: We recommend booking your trip with us as early as possible. While we strive to accommodate last-minute bookings, a 15% advance deposit is required to secure your reservation. This deposit allows us to make all necessary arrangements for your trip however, the remaining payment can be settled upon your arrival in Nepal.
Question: Who will carry my luggage on the Nar Phu trek?.
Answer: We provide porters to transfer your baggage. As a responsible trekking travel bureau, we ensure that each of our porters carries a maximum of 24 kilos, accommodating the luggage of two guests (12 kilos per guest). This policy helps to maintain the health and well-being of our porters while providing efficient service.
Question: How much distance do I walk each day?
Answer: When walking in the mountains, the distance you cover each day can vary greatly due to gradient, terrain, and altitude. As such it is very hard to give specific distances for each day, however, you have to be prepared to walk for roughly about 5 hours each day.
Question: Do I need walking poles?.
Answer: It is better to trek with a trekking poles especially for this Nar Phu trekking. You can learn how to use trekking poles for balance and stability, whether on the sidewalk or on trails. Walking poles can help prevent slips and falls especially when you are descending on snowy trail. They are just recommended but not compulsory.
Question: How much additional money do I need per day?
Answer: You can allocate US$ 10 to 15 per day to buy bottles of water, chocolates, tea/coffee, showers..etc along the journey. However, it’s wise to carry some extra cash in case of unexpected expenses and for emergencies. Credit card payment is not acceptable so you need all cash in a local currency along with you.

Around Manaslu and Nar-Phu Valley
Around Manaslu is a trekking tour with fascinating landscape and lovely villages.Nar-Phu Valley is also named “lost valleys” a very remote region feeling like a journey to past times. To cross Larkya La (5100m) and Kangla La (5320m) are exhausting days, but you will be rewarded with beautiful views, a sense of achievement and a pleasant tiredness in the evening.

We did the Nar-Phu valley Trek with Gokyo Treks & the Expedition office in late May 2018. The experience was great and very well planned. Our guide Kamal was great. He did very good care of us and made our trip amazing.
He also took care of all things while allowing us to have the space to change plans and decide on extra things for ourselves. Also, a very very friendly and funny guy. The Manager of Gokyo treks was flexible too with the fast answering of all of our questions. He helped to manage our trip in the best way which made us very safe and happy.
